The Lurton family, one of the main Châteaux owners of the region, is a leading actor of the Bordeaux wine world since 3 generations.
After his father François, Lucien Lurton moved into Château Brane-Cantenac in 1954. Over the next 30 years, he acquired some of the most prestigious flagships of the Bordeaux region, many of which are Classified Growths. In 1992 he handed down his properties to his children.
Today, Thierry Lurton is the owner of Château de Camarsac (Bordeaux Supérieur et Entre-Deux-Mers). Marie-Laure Lurton nurtures the destines of Château Duplessis (Moulis-en-Médoc Bourgeois Growth), Château de Villegeorge (Haut Médoc Bourgeois Growth) and Château La Tour de Bessan (Margaux Bourgeois Growth). Bérénice Lurton is at the helm of Château Climens (Sauternes, 1st Classified Growth of Barsac). Sophie Lurton inherited Château Bouscaut (Pessac-Léognan, Classified Growth of Graves). Denis Lurton owns Château Desmirail (Margaux, 3rd Classified Growth). Gonzague Lurton manages Château Durfort-Vivens (Margaux, 2nd Classified Growth) and Henri Lurton le Château Brane-Cantenac (Margaux, 2nd Classified Growth).
A constant search for excellence and the best expression of the estates’ terroirs.
Since 1992, Lucien Lurton’s children have been successfully taking over the reins of the family estates. These brothers and sisters, watchful guardians of their respective terroirs, have continued to tend their vines with the enthusiasm and savoir-faire of previous generations.
Character, care for the land, uncompromising standards and independence: these are the watchwords of the Lucien Lurton family.
La Passion des Terroirs sells the sales of the château-wines of the whole family (first and second wines) with exclusivity agreements for the distribution of some of them : Château Valoux, Château Lamothe Bouscaut, Château Camarsac, Château Notton, Initial de Desmirail, Relais de Durfort-Vivens, Cyprès de Climens…
In addition to these wines sourced from the estates belonging to the children of Lucien Lurton, La Passion des Terroirs distributes those of special “partner estates” linked to the family: Château Ferrière, Château La Gurgue, Château Haut-Bages Libéral, Château Domeyne (Claire Villars-Lurton the wife of Gonzague Lurton), Château Chasse Spleen, Château Camensac (Céline Villars-Foubet, Claire’s sister), Château Gruaud Larose (Jean Merlaut, the uncle of Claire and Céline).
